Job Description:

  • Oversees activities related to the purchase of material, material control, inventory control, shipping/receiving and stores functions.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains policies, procedures and material control systems.
  • Ensures materials are ordered and in stock to meet company requirements, while maintaining acceptable inventory levels.
  • Develops material schedules and coordinates the efficient movement of materials with purchasing, production and engineering.
  • Reviews and plans requirements for purchasing materials.
  • May prepare material requirement plans using enterprise resource planning systems.
  • May assist with the establishment and maintenance of the production control system.
  • Selects, develops, and evaluates personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.
  • Implements the company’s policies, programs, and guidelines; ensuring employee productivity and growth.
  • Manages resources; knowing Varian’s business; and maintaining functional, technical, and external market awareness necessary for managing immediate organization.

Minimum Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability, competence, and confidence to lead people.
  • Effective interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with materials finance, particularly standard product costing and inventory modeling.
  • Knowledge and experience with Supplier contracting and negotiations.
  • Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with Workday or SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.

Typical Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent.
  • 3 years of related experience.
  • Typically no prior management experience.

The base pay range for this position is

Min $65,900 – Max $112,200

The pay wage range shown is based on the job posting’s primary location. Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors, including but not limited to skill set, experience, certifications, and location.
