VCA Animal Hospital is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Labor Accounting Manager to lead a team of three associates and manage our labor accounting process. As the Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing payroll for all business units, including Canada, Camp Bow Wow, Antech, and Sound, as well as commissions, benefits, ST/LT incentives, and all other labor-related expenses.
In this highly visible role, you will work closely with the VP of Payroll, members of the P&O (HR) organization, the FP&A and Ops Finance teams, and various members of the accounting organization. You will provide support to each business segment for payroll questions related to weekly journal entries, ensuring that the payroll integration files are booked correctly and timely, and managing the GL posting rules and the GL mapping tables.
The Labor Accounting Manager will play a critical role in overseeing one of the largest operating expenses in our business. The ideal candidate will have excellent leadership skills, a strong attention to detail, and the ability to effectively manage a team in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

Direct responsibility for the management, coaching and development of the team.

Manage the weekly and periodic close processes, includes ensuring all payroll costs incurred are properly recorded, review journal entries, account reconciliations and report generation.

Support Finance partners with labor analysis for actuals vs budget vs forecast, forecast development and deliver excellent customer service to our Operational leaders.

Function as the primary point of contact for our internal and external auditors for any issues involving the labor accounting team.

Assist the finance operations function in ad hoc projects and support.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of relevant accounting experience (payroll and benefits), experience leading a team, and experience managing relationships with a cross-section of stakeholders, including senior executives

CPA license highly desirable

Strong Excel skills

Ability to read, write, and speak English.

Familiarity with Oracle ERP and Workday HCM or their equivalents is highly desirable.

Solid knowledge of accounting activities related to general ledger, financial statement preparation, GAAP and advanced accounting systems.

Possess leadership capabilities and works proactively to drive results.

Self-starter, flexible, has a high-level of integrity and is action and goal-oriented in a fast-paced, team oriented, collaborative environment.
Additional InformationÂ
[Required for CA, NY, WA, CO only]: Compensation is negotiable based on education, experience, and other relevant credentials. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $98,400 -$147,600. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
