Job Description Summary

The position is responsible for maintaining, supporting, and trouble-shooting issues in the student information system (Banner) and the degree audit system (Degree Works) during the University’s transition to Workday Student. This position collaborates with Office of the University Registrar staff and other departments that produce and consume data; therefore, the position needs to understand the downstream impact of changes to student information. This position partners with Information Systems to troubleshoot system issues as needed.
This is a fixed-term position available August 2023 through December 2024 and is eligible for hybrid or remote work.

Job Description

Essential Functions:  

  • Banner Admin user of student forms, self-service, AIP, and BCM
    • Maintain all elements of the course catalog
    • Schedule, audit, and update course sections
    • Award degrees and honors
    • Research and resolve registration issues
    • Maintain student status, type, and program of study
    • Process grades, calculate GPA, and determine Dean’s List eligibility
    • Set up term dates and registration statuses
    • Create and assign time tickets
    • Process and award transfer credit
    • Set up new users and assign security
    • Troubleshoot issues related to any student form or job
    • Communicate with information systems in a technical manner
    • Assist students, faculty, and staff with issues in self-service
    • Create new action items for specific populations
    • Create scheduled communications for specific populations
    • Understand where student data lives within the database and report out
  • Degree Works user of Controller, Dashboard, and Transit
    • Set up new users and assign security
    • Bridge users, students, and course from the Banner database to Degree Works
    • Apply exceptions appropriately in the Dashboard
    • Troubleshoot issues related to Dashboard
    • Communicate with information systems in a technical manner
    • Assist students, faculty, and staff with issues in self-service
  • WIN application management
    • Assist staff with issues related to the WIN applications
    • Communicate with information systems in a technical manner

Other Functions:

  • Independently organize and plan work around required deadlines.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:  

  • Banner Admin student power-user experience

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:  

  • Able to query the Banner database using reporting software
  • Degree Works or other degree audit software administration experience

Personnel Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for own work
