Job Description Summary
This position conducts analyses and assists with administering employee compensation and, on a limited basis, student compensation programs, policies, and practices to ensure they are cost-effective, internally equitable, externally competitive, and compliant with all applicable
regulations. With some guidance and direction, performs job evaluations, market pricing, and research and analysis, and makes recommendations consistent with the University’s compensation philosophy, established policies, market practice, and business needs. Maintains collaborative team and HR client relationships to ensure effective and efficient delivery of compensation support to the organization.

Essential Functions:

Serves as a consultant to HR and University leaders in all areas of employee compensation, including market pricing to maintain external competitiveness, internal equity, retention, and pay practices.

Participates in the annual compensation administration process by maintaining compliance with program guidelines, reporting, and ensuring program integrity.

Conducts market-pricing requests, completes job evaluations and FLSA analyses, and communicates outcomes to leaders.

Makes salary recommendations for new hires, promotions, market reviews, and other adjustments as needed based on University guidelines. Ensures internal equity and adherence to applicable federal, state, and local regulations.

Manages Workday tasks to accurately and efficiently process transactions. Performs various Workday tasks as Compensation Administrator and Compensation Partner.

Partners with other functional areas to ensure all tasks are completed throughout the employee life cycle process and across multiple HR system business processes.

Engages in compensation discussions with leaders to ensure understanding of compensation reviews, Workday transactions, policies, practices, and compliance with regulations.

Creates position descriptions, revisions, and maintenance to ensure compliance and standardization.

Partners with Payroll to ensure deadlines are met for timely and accurate payments; follows repeatable and auditable processes and procedures to resolve payroll-related issues.

Participates in salary surveys by matching jobs and analyzing results.

Evaluates independent contractors and other unpaid requests to ensure adherence to regulations and communicates recommendations to University leaders.

Conducts periodic audits on compensation data to ensure compliance and accuracy of payments. Effectively resolves data discrepancies, including overpayments and post-termination compensation in conjunction with Payroll.

Serves as backup support to Compensation team inboxes as needed.

Performs all other duties as assigned.
Required Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

College education in a related field of study or four years of experience to include an understanding of human resources procedures, practices, policies, and laws.

One year of progressive experience in compensation-related work in Human Resources.

Knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state regulations related to compensation and other employment laws.

Proven ability to maintain confidential and sensitive HR information with a high degree of discretion, integrity, and ethics.

Ability to analyze complex information and to define and solve problems; accurately collect, analyze, and report data.

Effective verbal and written communication skills and maintains excellent team and customer relations.

Accuracy and a high degree of attention to detail.

Analytical decision maker.

Proficiency in Data Analysis Software, including advanced skills with documents, spreadsheets, and other relevant software.

Time management skills with the ability to prioritize daily assignments and activities to meet deadlines with minimal direction.oi

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

Experience in a higher education environment.

Prior experience using Workday.

Compensation certification.
