Job Summary

The Director of HRIS leads the strategy, governance, and optimization of Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) for Wayne-Sanderson Farms, overseeing system design, implementation, and support for 26,000 employees. This role directs a skilled team and collaborates with HR, IT, and business leaders to align HRIS initiatives with enterprise goals and drive operational excellence.

Job Responsibilities

  • Leads the enterprise-wide HRIS strategy and roadmap, aligning Workday capabilities with workforce and digital transformation goals.
  • Advises senior leadership on HR tech trends, ROI, and innovation, while identifying and implementing practical, scalable solutions across the HR ecosystem.
  • Oversees full lifecycle HRIS/Workday management, including system configuration, upgrades, integrations, and reporting.
  • Partners with analytics teams to deliver insights through dashboards and predictive tools.
  • Manages external providers when needed to ensure system effectiveness.
  • Owns HR data governance, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ensures strong internal controls, audit readiness, and system security aligned with best practices and evolving regulations.
  • Collaborates with HR, IT, Finance, and other key stakeholders to align HRIS with business needs.
  • Acts as a strategic partner to ensure systems meet organizational goals.
  • Leads a high-performing HRIS team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
  • Provides coaching, develops talent, and supports succession planning.
  • Manages HR technology vendors and budgets, ensuring contract performance, service quality, and ROI.
  • Holds third-party providers accountable for delivering value and project outcomes.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in HRIS or HR technology, with 5+ years working within the Workday environment and working in a leadership role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proven success managing enterprise-level Workday systems; certifications preferred.
  • Demonstrated expertise in HR analytics, system integrations, and HR tech governance.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Must demonstrate a high-level of emotional intelligence in interactions with individuals at various levels across the organization.

  • Ability to appropriately handle situations and resolve issues efficiently and effectively
  • Highly proficient computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment using excellent organizational skills and precise attention to detail.
  • Must possess a strong customer-centric attitude, high energy level and a strong sense of urgency.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading HRIS in multi-entity, multi-state, or global organizations of 20,000+ employees.
  • Familiarity with treasury, payroll, benefits, time tracking, and compensation systems integration.
  • Track record of implementing AI/ML features or self-service functionality within Workday or HR platforms.

Supervisor Responsibilities

  • This role will lead a team of HRIS Architects, Analysts, Project Managers and Specialists.
  • This is a Leader of People role with required competencies:  Delegation, Conflict Management, Planning, Sizing Up People, And Customer Focus.
  • Responsible for effectively executing all Wayne-Sanderson Talent Management processes, to include coaching, succession planning and performance reviews.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry packages weighing up to 50 pounds.
  •  Perform repetitive tasks for extended periods. 
  • May travel infrequently for training or to company locations to provide training or other HRIS related tasks.
