PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Sr. Retirement Plans Administrator acts as a human resources liaison for developing and supporting the strategy, design, and development of all retirement plan programs. This role partners with the organization’s leaders and human resources team members to implement and drive retirement standard processes and procedures ensuring programs are competitive, sustainable, and have a positive impact on short and long-term performance of the entire organization. The role manages the day-to-day activities of the company’s retirement plan to ensure consistency in practices and communication of all related programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:    
•    Regulate the effectiveness of all retirement programs, policies, guidelines, and procedures and recommend plan revisions or enhancements
•    Coordinate and provide guidance on retirement program guidelines; retirement programs to include 401k plans, non-qualified plans, traditional retirement plans, etc.
•    Conduct regular audits in vendor and payroll systems to ensure compliance with plan structure and company policy
•    Maintain positive working relationships with advisors, plan sponsors, and third-party administrators. 
•    Oversee activities focused on the day-to-day administration of the company’s retirement programs, provide guidance and direction to ensure communication is compliant with all applicable policies, regulations, and legal requirements.
•    Provide input on matters such as plan design, fiduciary responsibility, and operational compliance of legacy retirement matters for the company
•    Support the Director of Benefits in Benefit related projects and implementations. 
•    Develops routine communications to all employees regarding the company’s retirement plans, retirement planning and educational resources, vendor-provided services, etc. 
•    Coordinates the planning and execution of all Retirement Committee meetings, to include the agenda, meeting material, invitations, and minutes
•    Coordinate all annual filings that are required by the IRS and other agencies, ensuring that the company is compliant with all annual retirement plan filings 
•    Participate in reviews of the company’s 401(k) administrator at least annually, providing clear feedback and direction to vendors, and hold them accountable for any agreed upon action plans
•    Ensure compliance with employment-related federal and state statutory requirements regarding employee retirement plans and remain up to date on current benefit-related legislation
•    Work with vendor to complete all annual 401(k)-non-discrimination testing 
•    Oversee 401(k) forfeiture account and ensure it is used appropriately
•    Assist in the identification and correction of compliance issues in retirement plans, calculate corrections and draft submissions for the IRS and DOL correction programs
•    Support local leadership in negotiating retirement related terms for collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) as needed
•    Collaborates with cross function workstreams (payroll, legal, HRIS and HR teams) in all retirement plan matters 
•    Perform additional relevant duties as assigned

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES
•    None. This is an individual contributor role with required competencies: Functional/Technical Skills, Action Oriented, Problem Solving, Learning on the Fly, and Interpersonal Savvy 

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS
•  Bachelors’ degree in Human Resources, Finance or other relevant discipline from an accredited institution 
•    Certifications required: CEBS, CPSP, PHR/SPHR preferred

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
•    Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in the administration of Retirement programs 
•    Demonstrated knowledge of policy adherence and the ability to resolve issues efficiently and effectively
•    Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations and compliance requirements related to retirement (such as ERISA, Fiduciary responsibilities)
•    Strong computer knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and HCM systems; experience with Workday preferred
•    Ability to present information to all levels of the organization
•    Strong customer focus with exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to fluently communicate effectively with internal and external customers in a timely and professional manner
•    Self-starter who demonstrates strong initiative and sense of urgency and is comfortable with multi-tasking, able to manage multi-step procedures, handle frequent interruptions in workflow and prioritization in a fast-paced environment
•    Ability to effectively interact with staff at all levels in a fast-paced environment, exhibiting professionalism and composure in stressful situations with an elevated level of confidentiality
•    Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize
•    Ability to work collaboratively with others, possessing tact and discretion and demonstrate an important level of confidentiality in all matters

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
•    Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
•    Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•    Ability to remain stationary for extended periods of intense concentration
•    Ability to work weekends, holidays and extended shifts as needed
•    Travel up to 10%
