Job Responsibilities:

The Regional Controller – US (and Americas) is responsible and accountable for managing effective and efficient financial accounting, reporting, and analysis activities of assigned regional activity and subsidiaries in conformance with corporate policies and procedures, and in compliance with US GAAP and local statutory accounting and reporting requirements. Responsible for the design and performance of internal controls over financial reporting consistent with corporate-wide internal control policies and procedures, and for local statutory audits and submissions as well as supporting the consolidated audit. Ensures that internal financial information needs of other functions, are met and that timely, effective financial evaluation of financial performance is performed. Includes finance lead supporting regional mergers and acquisitions and with design support and implementation of global transfer pricing policy. This position reports to the Corporate/Global Controller or Chief Financial Officer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Ensure accurate, effective, and efficient financial accounting, financial reporting, project accounting, and financial/profitability analysis for assigned business units.
  • Manage the monitoring and assessment of financial position and performance against budgets and prior periods including summarizing business activity.
  • Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts. 
  • Ensure appropriate application of accounting policies and procedures, consistent with and within corporate guidelines, and ensure accounting complies with corporate policy, local statutory requirements and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  • Establish adequate internal controls over financial reporting, within corporate internal control guidelines, and ensure their proper functioning, including ensuring adequate separation of duties. Includes appropriate monthly and quarterly internal controls over general ledger balances.
  • Coordinate auditing of financial accounts and internal controls for subsidiaries within assigned region and ensure timely completion and filing of required audits and other required financial reporting.
  • Evaluate accounting department structure for continual improvement of efficiency and effectiveness and to provide individuals with professional growth.
  • Manage and lead team’s vision, strategy and execution, setting team OKRs and KPI’s for team members. Supervise assigned managers, supervisors and staff including job performance, descriptions, qualifications, and training.
  • Manage banking and regulatory authority relationships and ensure compliance with financial reporting, tax reporting, social and other insurance reporting, and other legal entity filing requirements for assigned business units and accounts.
  • Manage auditing of financial accounts and internal controls and ensure timely completion and filing of consolidated audits and other required financial reporting. 
  • Coordinate with external tax partners and assure annual corporate tax filings are met by required deadlines.
  • Evaluate accounting department structure for continual improvement of efficiency and effectiveness and to provide individuals with professional growth. 
  • Manage and lead team’s vision, strategy, and execution, setting team OKRs and KPI’s for team members. Supervise assigned managers, supervisors and staff including job performance, descriptions, qualifications, and training. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS:
 

  • At least 10 years of supervisory experience in accounting and finance departments, including at least 3 years of regional controller experience.  Ideal candidate has experience supervising multiple business units or corporate-wide experience, and working within a multi-currency, multi-jurisdictional global environment. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA/CA certificate or license required. MBA or CFA a plus. Strong technical accounting.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple priorities. Experience managing large, geographically distributed teams, including training, and developing employees 
  • Skill in problem analysis and problem resolution and possess a strong attention to detail. 
  • Knowledge of Workday Financial Accounting Software or similar is advantageous. Ability to work within multiple software applications. Strong analytical and Excel skills required 
  • Ability to communicate clearly with all levels of management, external and Internal stakeholders, and employees in a global environment.
