About the Team

This position is part of the Employee Life & Site Experience (EL&SE) team and reports into the Senior Director, Employee Life & Site Experience. EL&SE brings to life the connections, projects and experiences that help our employees feel engaged and valued, and ultimately deliver impact to our Workmates, customers and bottom line. The team supports a community of named site leaders across our offices, plans our largest employee events, coaches employees who plan smaller social events at each site, and partners with a range of stakeholders who help build and deliver a remarkable employee experience within each office, including working closely with People Analytics. This team is a part of People & Purpose (HR).

About the Role

Workday is seeking a Principal Program Manager, Employee Life, Site Experience & Events. This is an individual contributor role based in Pleasanton, California.

This high-impact individual contributor role requires a collaborative leader with a proven track record of delivering projects and programs across an enterprise. You will tackle complex, cross-enterprise experiences that impact employees globally and influence the health and employee experience at every Workday office.

Responsibilities 

In this role, you will be accountable for leading, managing and delivering strategic initiatives or programs that drive positive Workmate and Site Experiences that bring Workday’s values to life . Specifically, you will: 

 

Lead Programs and Initiatives: 

  • Manage complex, cross-functional projects within the HR space. This includes projects focused on event/experience delivery as well as understanding interdependencies that impact processes between partner teams, policy, and program design.

  • Orchestrate the delivery of  initiatives/programs/projects that exceed employee experience expectations and needs. 

  • Steward the delivery lifecycle, partnering across teams to manage risks, issues, actions, escalations, stakeholder alignment, schedules, deliverables, and partnerships

  • For select initiatives, this role may directly deliver on project expectations in addition to serving as project manager.

  • Create enablement materials and documentation to support successful delivery of programs and projects to client groups, including stakeholders, employee volunteers, other COEs, and leadership sponsors.

  • Assess new stakeholder asks to determine business case, scope and priority alignment.

  • Work with stakeholders to action the roadmap, vision and plans for implementation of priority programs or initiatives that improve Workmate and Site Experience.

  • Define business performance metrics and measure attainment to drive decision making and guide Workmate experience and Site Program needs.

Engage with Business Stakeholders:   

  • Build relationships and collaborate globally with stakeholders and partners to deliver outcomes across the global organization, ensuring shared understanding of progress and performance.   

  • Ensure that stated and unstated goals, business issues, concerns and priorities are surfaced and understood.   

  • Influence, activate and orchestrate across teams to build alignment and drive results.  

  • Ensure an atmosphere of cohesiveness and focused collaboration between all the members of the team, all in the interest of driving the work forward. 

 

About You

Qualifications 

Required: 

  • 8+ years of experience working in a global, multi-functional organization with increasing responsibility including 6+ years of strategic program or project management experience whereby success depended on individuals not reporting directly to you 

  • Experience managing and leading high performing cross-functional teams inclusive of multiple stakeholders, initiatives, and accountabilities. 

 

Preferred: 

  • You are a highly motivated self-starter who relies on strong sense of self and work ethic. 

  • You are a problem solver who seeks sustainable solutions instead of isolated fixes. 

  • You have an ability to gracefully navigate, listen, synthesize, influence, de-escalate and re-route issues across the organization. You refuse to be blocked. 

  • Prior experience in employee experience or HR

  • Forward thinking and strategic, yet pragmatic and operationally savvy 

  • Ability to provide clarity amid rapidly changing priorities and direction, with a structured approach to problem solving and decision making 

  • Organizational agility and ability to navigate complex multi-stakeholder/cross-company processes to influence senior level leaders and deliver impact 

  • Ability to design and execute processes that facilitate collaboration, leadership team effectiveness and impact 

  • Ability to rapidly gain/build trust and confidence with team members and stakeholders with strong self-awareness, interpersonal skills and comfort with open and honest interactions 

  • High tolerance for ambiguity in a high-pressure environment 

  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to craft and deliver clear impact-oriented executive communications 

  • Demonstrated track record of effective communication with business leaders at all levels within large enterprises 

Occasional travel may be required. This is a hybrid role, generally spending at least 50% time in office, however certain project work may necessitate increased time in office (up to 80% of the time) for short periods.

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations in the United States (US) are listed below.  Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $155,100 – $232,700

 

Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $129,200 – $232,700
