About the Team

Workday’s Product & Technology Strategy and Planning Organization unifies the product and technology program portfolio for Operations, Platform Infrastructure, Office of CTO, Security and Workday Product Suite to deliver secure applications to Workday customers powering a rapidly growing global business. This requires superior partnership, coordination and teamwork amongst our highly skilled Engineering, Development, Security and Privacy teams that span multiple geographies. Our mission is to focus on delivering projects and programs that ensure our Workday platform is highly available while delivering new products and features for our customers

About the Role

Workday is looking for a Manager, PMO to join the team to lead the centralized PMO team. You will be responsible for leading an elite team that handles sophisticated, cross- organizational programs with exposure to multiple critical business initiatives. You will authoritatively define, structure, and operationalize programs, align customers, and drive critical outcomes. Embracing Program Management standard methodologies and tools, you’ll build project management standard processes and guide a community of Program and Project Managers while crafting remarkable employee experiences. As a seasoned leader you will take proactive ownership of complex planning, resolve programmatic challenges, and provide strategic recommendations to ensure business objectives are consistently met. You will also ensure initiatives align to strategy and provide progress transparency against those initiatives ongoing.

Responsibilities:

  • Ongoing evaluation, intake, and prioritization of programs in partnership with Process Architecture group

  • Design customer alignment plan that addresses the overall needs of our partners

  • Take ownership of complex planning and programmatic issues and proactively solve for the leadership team.

  • Evolve and operate lightweight, consistent practices and PM artifacts

  • Establish operating models, frameworks and cohesive communication plans for large scale initiatives, map workstreams for execution

  • Lead cross-functional alignments, ensuring clarity of focus and driving commitments

  • Lead technology wide investigations prior to becoming programs

  • Lead multiple, sophisticated initiatives in parallel.

  • Identify and advance concerns or resource issues and be able to handle trade-offs involving features, cost, design and schedule

  • Effectively communicate with senior management on decisions that impact multiple programs

  • Optimally connect with cross functional teams through the complete program / project cycle

  • Partner with internal customers to develop new insights and understand long term vision of programs

  • Develop staff members through targeted mentoring, coaching, and training.

About You

Basic Qualifications

  • 10+ years of industry experience of which a minimum of 3 years in a PMO leadership/ people management capacity

  • 4+ years of experience with Agile project management and process improvement methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban, SAFe)

Other Qualifications

  • Heavy experience in running enterprise-wide projects in SaaS and Cloud environments.

  • Experience leading and participating in technical and cross-functional projects.

  • Experience with data center infrastructure, cloud services and software development practices.

  • Ability to identify dependencies between complex programs/projects and resolve impact.

  • Problem solver capable of translating issues into simple terms to facilitate discussion and decision.

  • Excellent organizational, presentation and communication skills.

  • Effective in and experienced in leading cross functional relationships.

  • Able to drive collaboration and influence multiple teams.

  • Experience with Jira/Confluence desirable.
