Business Technology(BT) in Workday continues its mission to deliver unparalleled value to our business partners and customers. The Program and Business Operations team works with stakeholders within BT and outside to define, align on, and implement the strategic programs and operations. The team is also responsible for standardizing program methodologies, tools and operations/metrics across the BT organization to provide a unified experience to business stakeholders and customers.

About the Role

Workday is looking for a Sr Program Manager to join the Business Technology PMO at Workday.  As a Sr. Program Manager, you will lead a variety of projects with significant scope and impact supporting several areas of business strategy. In addition, you will also serve a vital role in how we manage our portfolio.

In this role, you will work closely with cross-functional business and IT partners to deliver value to stakeholders, including meeting the scope, budget and timeline of the effort.  A proven track record in managing efforts across multiple program work streams is a critical need in this role.  

You will also play a key role in the PMO portfolio management team to help implement and institutionalize BT Program Management methodologies and processes.


  • Run complex technical programs from design and implementation to production

  • Define and document project scope / requirements / plan and influence and advise on key architectural solution design

  • Work across multiple work streams to coordinate high level and detailed schedules for project implementation

  • Mentoring and coaching individual project managers/scrum masters

  • Identify and manage cross functional dependencies and touch points

  • Proactively identify, manage and resolve issues and risks

  • Plan, schedule and monitor project deliverables, goals and milestones

  • Recognize opportunities for improvement and take initiative to implement changes 

  • Develop and maintain project level status and reporting to stakeholders and management

  • Implement and institutionalize BT Program Management methodologies

  • Assist as needed in portfolio management and fiscal planning activities

About You


  • 5+  years of experience as an IT program manager – medium to large size programs

  • Experience managing IT programs in one or more of the following areas M&A, Data Migration, Sales, CPQ, Order Management, Customer Success, HR, Finance, Infrastructure and Enterprise data

  • Previous experience in a PMO organization performing initiating program governance and SDLC methodology

  • Experience with agile project management and process improvement methodologies (e.g. Scrum)

  • Previous experience in the consulting industry is a plus

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in IT program management 

  • Strong organizational, presentation, interpersonal, and communication skills

  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment

  • Persuasive, encouraging, motivating and detail oriented

  • Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies in a fast-paced environment

  • Proficiency with Jira, GSuite, and Smartsheets

  • PMP and/or Agile certification a plus

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations in the United States (US) are listed below.  Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Primary Location Base Pay Range: $118,000 – $177,100


Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $112,100 – $194,400
