JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the successful candidate in the position of Associate CIO for User Success and Experience will lead and enhance the ITS’s mission of continuous
improvement of their services. The focus is primarily on user experience that improves daily
transactional technology support and strategic project support for mid to long term priorities. The
individual will lead a team of IT professionals supporting service desk, program and change
management, data analytics, data governance and strategy, and business architecture and planning. The Associate CIO will also collaborate with Institutional Research to develop master data management and data governance strategies.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsibilities

  • Provides best in class transactional user support for daily operational issues through IT Service Desk.
  • Assists users with their mid to long term strategic needs by providing Program Management Change Management, and Training support.
  • Develops a robust business architecture and analysis function for gathering requirements and providing feasibility analysis.
  • Working jointly with Institutional Research, design, delivers and manage a cross-campus collaborative, modern strategy for enterprise data governance in a fast-changing data environment while ensuring data integrity, security, and compliance.
  • Document and train stakeholders at all levels on processes, procedures, practices, and policies in support of the Master Data Management strategy, models, and systems supporting it.
  • This role is accountable for delivering successful outcomes of data modernization services portfolio and prioritizing data architecture development/support efforts in cooperation with the Institutional Research team and other business groups.
  • Work collaboratively with the larger IT division to understand application data, security structures, and reporting requirements; develop unified approaches for meeting and supporting the university’s information needs.
  • Support the movement of new and changed projects through IT and master program governance.
  • Improve internal project management of IT projects and provide transparency to the community about progress and deliverables with clearly defined milestones.
  • Establish measurable metrics every quarter that can be tracked towards continuous improvements.
  • Develop and execute communication plans in partnership with other internal communicators in order to properly engage all stakeholders.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies quickly and effectively.
  • Work with CIO and other ITSLT to define ITS Vision, Mission and Priorities.
  • Work with architecture and infosec to develop architecture to develop 3-year roadmaps for key services delivered to the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or business administration with strong emphasis on data analytics and reporting
  • 8+ years related data management experience.
  • Knowledge of Master Data Management (MDM), Business Intelligence (BI) and enterprise data architectures and analytics.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and articulating data governance and master data management strategies.
  • Hands on experience working with various enterprise data sources including both structured and unstructured data; understanding of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and related large enterprise system architectures.
  • Ability to comprehend and translate technical information and issues and apply to business solutions.
  • Ability to comprehend and translate business and analytical needs into data management technologies and solutions.
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong relationships, influence others, and move toward a common vision or goal.
  • Experience with implementing user data enablement and communities.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with executive sponsors and work with people of all levels of technical ability.
  • Execution of best practice project management and ability to manage multiple assigned tasks/projects with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent time management, organization, and planning skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies and remain current with expanding data technologies; Recommend and implement solutions in accordance with current best practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Higher education experience preferred but not required.
  • Preferred knowledge of Workday Prism, Tableau Server, AWS, Hadoop, Redshift, SnapLogic, MS Azure, Data Cookbook, Informatica, Workday, Salesforce, and/or data modelling tools
