At Wycliffe Bible Translators, your work is more than just a job. As a financial services manager, you’ll be responsible for the accounting activities of the Finance department, including but not limited to journal entries, reconciliations, budgeting processes, the month-end close process and audit preparation. You will also manage the training and work assignments of direct reports and coordinate the activity of the accounts payable team. 

Your contributions will play a pivotal role in ensuring financial integrity, supporting strategic decision making and advancing the mission of Bible translation worldwide.

You’ll partner with Finance leadership and other team members through:

  • Prayer and mission support: engage in prayer and advocacy to support Bible translation and inspire global participation.

  • High-quality service to facilitate the receipt and distribution of resources that support WUSA’s efforts in accelerating Bible translation.

  • Collaboration and continuous improvement: collaborate with the team, participate in cross-functional initiatives and contribute to projects that enhance staff experience and support our mission.

Responsibilities

You’ll make an impact as you:

  • Faithfully and regularly pray for the ongoing work of Bible translation and for people from around the world to experience transformation.

  • Act as an organizational representative presenting the global ministry of Wycliffe and encouraging interested individuals, organizations and churches to participate in the work of Bible translation. 

  • Live out the conviction that “work flows through relationship” by passionately “loving God and loving people” through word and deed. Promote team and organizational culture standards, ensuring high customer service standards.

  • Collaborate on departmental initiatives to provide a best-in-class experience for Wycliffe USA staff. Assist with cross-functional team responsibilities and tactical teams/departmental initiatives. 

  • Represent the Corporate Accounting team in meetings, projects, workshops and partnership efforts, as assigned.

  • Work alongside the Director of Corporate Accounting and other team members to:

    • Support the Corporate Accounting team, ensuring timely, efficient and accurate execution of the accounting activities for the Finance department.

    • Foster collaboration and cross-departmental relationships within Wycliffe USA to advance Bible translation efforts.

    • Advocate for Wycliffe USA by ensuring financial integrity and living out a ministry-focused philosophy of engagement.

  • Review and reconcile various bank and general ledger accounts, including adjusting entries.

  • Prepare and process domestic and international wire transfers for Bible translation projects.

  • Support budget preparation and financial reporting, including the Monthly Financial Report (MFR), consolidated financial statements and regulatory filings such as IRS Form 990 and other state and federal requirements.

  • Assist with the financial service processes, including A/P (checks & wires), expense reimbursement, departmental journals, corporate credit card program, financial account administration, PARCS and member accounting.

  • Assist in the evaluation of the financial processes and service needs of Wycliffe members and departments to optimize our capacity to meet the increasing demands of Bible translation.

  • Assist with the preparation of audit schedules and other reports for the auditors.

  • Lead and / or participate in projects or task force groups on accounting issues impacting the organization.

  • Work with the Director of Corporate Accounting to ensure that the financial management / accounting system meets organizational needs and is updated to reflect changes to regulatory requirements.

  • Assist the team with research for other projects involving Workday, Salesforce, bank website, Wycliffe website and other relevant sources as needed.

  • Supervisory Responsibilities: Coordinate supervisory responsibilities for 1-2 staff in accordance with the ministry’s policies and applicable laws, including spiritual leadership, interviewing, hiring, training, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining staff, addressing complaints and resolving problems.

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Corporate Accounting.

Maintains knowledge of current accounting standards and tax reporting issues. 

  • Technical Skills: 

    • Knowledge of and experience using Microsoft Office products, including Excel at an advanced level and Word at a basic level

    • Able to use the internet for research purposes. 

    • Practical knowledge of Google Workspace, including Mail, Calendar, Drive, Sheets and Docs.

    • Strong knowledge of finance / accounting systems, including strategic design, troubleshooting and system implementation, particularly Workday Financial Management.

    • Background or experience with APIs and coding is desired but not required.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration, with a preference for exposure to  fund accounting exposure); or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

  • A minimum of 3–5 years experience, preferably in finance, accounting, cross-cultural engagement, data analysis and financial reporting. 

  • Non-profit experience is desired but not required.

Compensation

The pay range for this position is $66,476 – $74,786. Actual pay rate may be higher based on various factors such as qualifications, skills and experience, required training, licensure and/or certifications, budget and allocation, if applicable. Additionally, the range for this position is based upon and considers Wycliffe’s non-profit ministry environment.
