Zayo is seeking a hands-on Senior HRIS Configuration Developer – Workday to join our Workday IT team. This hybrid role combines program leadership, product ownership, and deep technical expertise in Workday. As a key member of the team, you will drive the delivery of Workday initiatives, act as the Technical Owner for our People & Culture value stream. The Senior HRIS Configuration Developer – Workday will work alongside Business Analysts and Program Managers, and in close partnership with our vendors and SI partners, ensuring seamless execution across both internal and external teams.
Responsibilities:
Stakeholder Management

Serve as Zayo’s primary Workday SME, translating business needs into scalable and secure technical solutions.

Partner with business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements and business process models for new initiatives.

Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences to resolve issues and align expectations at all organizational levels.
SAFe / Agile Delivery Management

Support backlog management, prioritization, and Agile ceremonies (PI Planning, Sprint Planning, Retrospectives), ensuring alignment with business priorities and system health.

Collaborate with vendors and partners to drive solution design, enforce technical best practices, and deliver high-quality outcomes.

Lead technical delivery teams, manage risks, track progress, and ensure functional and technical requirements are met.
Workday Configuration Management

Define, implement, and validate Workday system changes in collaboration with business stakeholders and analysts.

Configure, troubleshoot, and support Workday modules (HCM, Payroll, Finance, etc.), acting as the in-house technical subject matter expert.

Conduct impact assessments and guide best-practice configurations to ensure technical feasibility and long-term scalability.
Integration Management

Design, implement, and manage integrations between Workday and other enterprise systems to ensure seamless data flow and integrity.

Diagnose and resolve integration issues in collaboration with internal and external technical teams.
Analytics, Reporting, and Audit Governance

Develop and maintain custom reports and dashboards to meet business needs and support data-driven decision-making.

Ensure data integrity and provide advanced analytics capabilities for HR reporting requirements.

Collaborate closely with the Audit team to ensure SOX and other compliance requirements are met across User Access Management (UAM), change management, and other HRIS platform controls.
System Optimization

Identify and implement opportunities for process and system optimization within Workday.

Evaluate Workday updates/releases and recommend adjustments to maintain system efficiency and alignment with business goals.

Address technical debt by refactoring outdated configurations, streamlining processes, and ensuring a scalable platform for future growth.
User Training & Support

Provide guidance to HR business stakeholders on Workday modules, features and functionalities.

Act as the primary point of contact for Workday, troubleshooting and resolving issues related to the platform, configuration and integrations.

Collaborate with the Change Management team to manage platform changes, ensuring smooth transitions and clear communication to employees affected by system updates.
Qualifications:

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field plus eight (8) years of HRIS solutions experience; OR eleven (11) years of direct related experience with a High school diploma or GED.

Minimum of ten (10) years of experience owning and managing the Workday HRIS platform for enterprise customers.

Broad knowledge of all Workday features and modules, with relevant Workday certifications preferred.

Proficiency in Hire-to-Retire business processes knowledge and hands on experience designing, launching and supporting Workday Platform.

Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders.

Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.

Effective communication and interpersonal abilities, with experience presenting technical concepts to various audiences.

Experience with architecture modeling and diagramming tools.
Estimated Base Salary Range: $95,800 – $136,900 USD/annually.

The base pay range shown is a guideline and reasonable estimate for this role. It takes into account the wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted range based upon geographic location, work experience, skill level, certifications, and other business and organizational needs. Non- sales roles may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive plan. Sales roles may be eligible to participate in a sales incentive plan.
Additionally, this position may be eligible for certain benefits, such as health insurance, life insurance, disability retirement plans, paid time off.
