What We Need

We are looking for a Senior HR Business Partner who will play a critical part in engineering top-notch products and services in a unique industry and at a rapidly growing organization.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to analyze data, understand trends and develop recommendations for action?

As the Senior HR Business Partner, you will align North American HR programs with business strategy and relevant employment laws and regulations.  You’ll work with our Commercial Sales leaders to effectively design their organization and optimize talent, and advise, coach, and support leaders to maximize performance, effectively lead change, encourage teamwork, and engage and develop talent.

A Day in the Life

  • Identify needs, develop solutions – engaging HR COE teams as appropriate – and implement plans in support of key business needs in a dynamic, changing environment

  • Influence enterprise HR program design (performance management, compensation planning, engagement strategies, and key talent processes such as talent reviews and succession planning, etc.) and lead the implementation of these programs with business leaders and HR COE leaders.

  • Consult with leaders to ensure alignment of performance management with pay-for-performance recommendations and reward and recognition programs.

  • Act as advocate and advisor to employees and leaders regarding career and leadership development

  • Develop investigation plans, conduct complex investigations, make recommendations, and oversee the implementation of decisions that lead to the fair and consistent resolution of issues and complaints.

  • Manage complex ER matters, including performance management, terminations, restructuring, accommodation requests, workplace drug/alcohol/violence matters, conflict resolution, etc.

  • Work with legal counsel to ensure compliance with applicable Canadian employment laws and regulations as well as US federal, state and local employment laws and regulations, as well as US federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.

  • Develop and implement comprehensive staffing plans for the organization and proactively partner with Talent Acquisition team on strategies to attract top talent.

Requirements

  • Work location: Element Fleet Management Toronto Office

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, preferably in HR, or a related discipline.

  • 7+ years relevant Human Resources experience

  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian employment laws and regulations; knowledge of US federal and state employment laws and regulations is desired.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive the HR strategic agenda using knowledge of the organization and its employees

  • Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills

  • Change agent and role model for leading cultural change.

  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Knowledge of Workday HRIS system a plus

  • Must be willing to travel approx. 10% of the time
