Job Description:

The Senior Product Manager – Workday Integrated Services (WD-IS) is responsible for ensuring the products and services delivered through the eco-system of Workday systems continually meet the needs of the Langara College community. This position works closely with the P&C, Finance and Student Services functional area leaders and IT leadership team to ensure the WD-IS team’s operational performance framework and priorities aligns with the functional area needs and the broader Langara College strategies and objectives. This position leads a team of functional area Product Managers and Strategic Analytic Consultants and Coordinators to ensure operational, tactical and strategic functional requirements are met. This position is responsible for managing and overseeing the strategic development and implementation of Workday product and service improvements over time. Creates a respectful working environment and coaches their team to achieve their potential.

Reporting to the Associate Director, the position partners with the IT leadership team to oversee the delivery of product and service, facilitating ongoing continuous improvement efforts related to the Workday eco-system. Partners with operational areas pursuing and leading continuous service improvemement for ongoing operational improvement activities. Partners closely with leadership across all Workday enabled functional areas to develop a long-term, strategic view for improving functionality of product solutions, providing technical expertise as required. May manage or support management of external vendor relationships.

 

Education & Experience

  • University degree in a relevant discipline. Graduate degree preferred (Marketing, Commerce, Business Administration, Management Information Systems, Computer Science) or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Minimum of eight years of related experience, including a minimum of six (6) years of business analysis, four (4) years of product design, four (4) years of product management. Experience should also include a minimum two (2) years of team leadership and two (2) years of project management.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Specialized experience in the product management is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in supporting Enterprise Resource Planning (“ERP”) systems is preferred. Workday and ITIL experience would be an asset. 
  • Certification and/or experience in continuous improvement and operational excellence methodologies (i.e., Lean, Six Sigma) an asset.
  • Solid understanding of product design and business analysis methodologies, tools, and techniques, and agile practices.
  • Experience in M365 suite of tools, including but not limited to SharePoint Online, Groups, Teams,  Exchange and OneDrive required.
  • Experience in requirement analysis and business process re-engineering required.
  • Prior experience in agile methodologies preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience leading teams to develop and execute on product strategies and roadmaps.
  • Proven experience applying continuous improvement methodologies in large, complex organizational contexts.
  • Proven experience leading teams on process improvement initiatives (including analysis, design and implementation).
  • Proven experience developing and maintaining partnerships in complex stakeholder landscapes.
  • Demonstrated leadership that fosters collaboration, innovation, continuous improvement and creativity on teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, enable and motivate teams by painting a compelling vision that enables a large team to adapt, collaborate and innovate cross-functionally.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply change management methods and approaches to complex organizational contexts.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead in a collaborative and inclusive manner, fostering equitable experiences and a respectful environment through reflection, empathy, sensitivity, and curiosity towards differences across teams.
  • Excellent analytical capabilities and interpersonal skills including active listening, facilitation, written and verbal communication, conflict management, and the ability to manage diversity across identities, perspectives, and behaviours.
  • Ability to operate at advanced levels of authority and manage significant activities and resources to produce and take responsibility for results.
  • Demonstrated integrity, independent thinking, judgment, and respect for others.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships and to provide excellent customer service to all clients.
  • Ability to develop, plan, execute and complete multiple projects/tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to effectively meet deadlines and organizational requirements.
  • Ability to maintain a broad knowledge of current technology and practices in information systems and technology.
  • Ability to interpret and comply with policies, procedures and regulations.

Salary Range:

$52.84 – $77.50 per hour

Pay Grade:

Admin Paygrade 12

Compensation beyond the mid-point requires approval by the Public Sector Employers’ Council Secretariat (PSEC).
