Job Description:

In January 2020, Langara College migrated its HR and finance operations to the cloud-based Workday ERP platform. Langara is now moving into an exciting new phase of transforming its Student Information Systems (SIS) through a suite of solutions, including the Workday Student product.

The role of the Project Manager is to plan, execute, document, and finalize projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes allocating resources and coordinating the efforts of team members, other departments’ resources, and third-party contractors or consultants in order to deliver projects according to plan. The Project Manager will also define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle.

We are seeking a strong, customer-focused Project Manager with detailed understanding of Registrar and Enrolment Services to manage functional project activities, to embed best practices and to deliver value to the Langara Community. This role oversees the functional workstream deliverables of Workday Student, including developing project plans and schedules, assigning responsibilities, identifying resource needs, managing risks and issues, monitoring quality of deliverables, and ensuring usage of established project tools. The Functional Project Manager coordinates with and manages dependencies with other project workstreams and provides regular status reports to project leadership.

Experience with client-facing services, managing project teams and vendor relationships will be critical. Experience with implementation of cloud-based systems would be preferred. Experience in higher education or public sector is an asset. Knowledge of student life cycle processes in a higher education environment is an asset.

 

Qualifications Required:

Education & Experience

  • University degree in computing science, engineering, or related technology field.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification strongly preferred.
  • Eight (8) years of work experience as a Project Manager, leading projects in software development environments, including:
    • 5+ years experience with project management software, such as Microsoft Project or similar tools
    • 5+ years experience with spreadsheet tools such as Microsoft Excel and with diagram and flowcharting software such as Microsoft Visio.
    • Experience implementing ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solutions, ideally in a cloud-based environment.
    • Experience implementing COTS (Commercial Off The Shelf Software) packages.
    • Productivity tools such as Confluence, Jira, SVN, SharePoint, Visio, BPM tools.
    • Demonstrated experience with agile and iterative software development methodologies.
    • Experience with all aspects of process development and execution.
  • Demonstrated experience in personnel management.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Salary Range:

$50.63 – $74.25 per hour

Compensation beyond the mid-point requires approval by the Public Sector Employers’ Council Secretariat (PSEC).
