Job Summary

As a Sr. Benefits Specialist, you’ll bring your skills and expertise to administering benefit plan design for all health, welfare, retirement and wellness programs. In addition, you’ll maintain ongoing efforts to determine equity with current benefit trends, ensuring compliance with legislated requirements and federal and state mandated programs.

  • Experience Required: 3 to 5 years
  • Education Desired: Bachelors Degree

Job Responsibilities

  • Administer all benefit plans including benefits eligibility, enrollment, integrations, benefit deductions and Team Member questions and troubleshooting.
  • Update, manage and test benefits configuration in the Workday system.
  • Receive Team Member inquiries from the HR Call center and work through resolution of potential issues within the departments as well as with outside vendors as needed.
  • Compile, analyze and submit monthly medical, dental, prescription and disability plan expenses as required
  • Develop and measure and analyze appropriate metrics for benefits and wellness of our Team Member population.
  • Assist in preparing and analyzing the annual benefits budget, annual plan reviews and rate setting
  • Participate in annual project work including: Wellness Program, ACA compilation, Open Enrollment, vendor implementations, and other projects as needed.
  • Research and analyze total rewards strategies that are consistent with the company’s strategic direction and make
    recommendations to the executive leadership team.
  • Analyze cost of benefit design changes and benchmark analysis as needed.
  • Assist in contract negotiations, estimate the cost of benefits and make recommendations for modifications.  Participate in system updates and audits as needed to implement any bargained changes.
  • Work with the accounting department on reconciliation of general ledger accounts, as needed.
  • Assist in the evaluation, management and selection of vendors.
  • Design and update annual Benefit Guides, Summary Plan Descriptions, Plan documents, summary grids and Summaries of Benefits and Coverage.
  • Participate in configuration updates and testing within the Workday system.  Review reporting and audits to ensure configuration and enrollment is correct.
  • Participate in calls and work with vendors to maintain benefit plans including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, FSA and HSA accounts and COBRA (Severance).
  • Manage retiree medical plans and all communication including pre-65 and post 65 enrollment, Open Enrollment, ACH reconciliation (monthly) and various payments and reimbursements.
  • Monitor and process dependent certifications and communication with team members
  • Participate on projects as assigned.
