This job is responsible for the design and configuration of Workday Payroll and managing Workday Payroll touchpoints with other Workday modules such as HCM Core, Benefits, Compensation, Absence, Time Tracking, Financial Accounting, Banking & Settlement, etc. and non-Workday modules such as Kronos. Ensures system updates and enhancements are configured and tested through the development of system testing plans and analyzing and auditing test results. Assigns and audits Workday Payroll system security. Provides Workday system support and provides education to end users on system functionality and usage. Serves as subject matter expert in the functional area of payroll and assists leaders, key stakeholders, and members of Finance, HR, and IS to support business needs regarding system functionality, business processes, and reporting. Serves as Workday functional lead for system projects, partnerships, and acquisitions.

Education

Required – High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred – Bachelor’s or Master's Degree in computer systems, data analytics, business or related field.

Work Experience

Required – 9 years’ experience in human resource/financial/payroll operations and multi-entity shared service department; or 5 years’ experience with a Bachelor's degree.

Preferred – 5 years of experience working with HCM systems such as Workday Payroll or other large ERP system, and large multi-jurisdictional timekeeping systems such as Kronos Workforce Central or Dimensions. 

Preferred – Experience with in-house healthcare, higher-ed system payroll, multi-entity, and working with 10,000+ employees.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Proficiency in Workday Payroll and knowledge of payroll configuration in conjunction to HCM Core, Benefits, Compensation, Absence

  • Proficient with Kronos other timekeeping systems to include Time Tracking, Time off Banks and Jurisdictional labor laws

  • Knowledgeable in Financial Accounting/Reporting, GL Account Mapping, Banking & Settlement

  • Knowledgeable in Labor Analytics and Report Generation/Presentation

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present information clearly and professionally to varying levels of individuals throughout the required business processes

  • Knowledge of payroll systems, payroll operations, and payroll transactions

  • Ability to develop and create Workday reports and EIBs (Enterprise Interface Builder)

  • Ability to prioritize, organize and coordinate multiple work assignments and be comfortable with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

  • Ability to apply analytical and critical thinking to strategies, practices, and problem-resolution

  • Project management skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and interact with a variety of stakeholders

  • Ability to work independently and with a team with a sense of urgency and use discretion on issues that may be sensitive or confidential in nature

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Windows-style applications, and learning new software as required for business initiative.

Job Duties

  • Provides production support by analyzing, designing, and testing solutions to complex problems and works with information services to resolve critical production issues.

  • Identifies and prioritizes key Workday optimization opportunities

  • Gains key stakeholder alignment on the business value, scope of work, and project prioritization

  • Works independently with clients to review, clarify, and document complex business requirements

  • Leads projects as defined by leadership, including but not limited to leading meetings, providing regular project updates, and adhering to project deadlines

  • Maintains up to date documentation for job aids and business requirements

  • Configures new Workday functionality including research, testing, and validation

  • Collaborates with functional and technical staff to coordinate application system upgrades or fixes

  • Maintains awareness on applicable Workday updates and trends, including evaluation and system testing for Workday releases, and focus on product and service development of key technologies

  • Develops and delivers communications and change management on Workday features and functionality enhancements

  • Develops and maintains reports within Workday to analyze operational activities as well as produce ad-hoc and custom management/operational reports to support corporate payroll reporting strategy

  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.   (Constantly: activity or condition exists 2/3 or more of the time) to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.

Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid.

The incumbent has no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.

Because the incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport, storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may increase depending on the essential job duties of the role.
